zijde geborduurde kaart (255)

Deze kerstkaart werd gedurende de Eerste Wereldoorlog verzonden naar Daisy. De woorden "somewhere in France" kom ik vaker op dit soort kaarten tegen. Soldaten hadden vaak geen idee waar in Frankrijk ze waren.

This Christmas Card was sent to Daisy during World War 1. I see the words "somewhere in France" more often on these cards. Soldiers often had no idea where in France they were.

(Elaine in Australia) Or because of wartime censorship they were not allowed to say. We have family letters from 'somewhere in France' but we know it was the Somme.
