Strawberry Manor af

Heerlijk dat ik in Frankrijk zoveel tijd had om te borduren, want ook dit huisje maakte ik daar.

Het is de Strawberry Manor ontworpen door Melisa van Pinker n Punkin Quilting & Stitching.

Een heel leuk huisje. Veel dank Melisa !

Via Facebook en Instagram bereikte me het bericht dat Bep van Atelier Bep enige tijd geleden is overleden.

Ik heb Bep ervaren als een hele lieve en bijzonder creatieve vrouw. Velen van ons hebben bij haar lapjes gekocht of een patroon van haar hand gemaakt.

Deze maakte ik enige jaren geleden en ik blijf hem leuk vinden.

I received the message via Facebook and Instagram that Bep from Atelier Bep passed away some time ago.

I experienced Bep as a very sweet and exceptionally creative woman. Many of us bought her fabrics or made a pattern of her hand.

I made this one a few years ago and still like it.

Vijf nieuwe sterren van stofjes die ik heb gekregen, in voorraad had of in Frankrijk heb gekocht.

Five new stars made out of fabric that was given to me, fabric that I had in my stash and fabric I bought in France.

quilt gedubbeld

Ik heb heel hard gewerkt dit weekend. De vingerhoedjesquilt is gedubbeld en dat was veel werk.  Alles doet pijn, maar het is gebeurd ! Ik had mijn oma dat op mijn leeftijd, 66 jaar, niet zien doen.

I worked very hard this weekend. I sandwiched this quilt and it was a lot of work. 

Every muscle in my body hurts, but it is done. I don't think my grandmother could have done this at my age. (I am 66 years old)

Halloween Manor af

Als je de huisjes van Melisa van Pinker n Punkin Quilting & Stitching leuk vindt kan ik ze aanbevelen voor de vakantie. Ik maakte er drie dit keer en dit is de tweede. Het is niet de tijd van het jaar voor Halloween Manor, maar ik ben dit jaar zeker niet te laat !

If you like the houses by Melisa of Pinker n Punkin Quilting & Stitching I can advice you to take them with you on your vacation. I made three this time and this is the second one. It is not the time for Halloween Manor, but I finished it in time this year. 

Summer SAL deel 1

Ik doe mee met de Summer SAL van atelier Soed Idee. In 12 delen wordt het patroon geplaatst van een schoollapje uit 1863 gemaakt door Hendrika Gast.

Het eerste deel kwam 13 juli online en vind je hier. 

Erg leuk dat Simone dit lapje op patroon heeft gezet, dus kijk vooral ook eens rond op haar site.

I am participating in the Summer SAL of atelier Soed Idee. The pattern of the school sampler by Hendrika Gast will be available in 12 parts.

voortgang sterren

Als ik de foto zo bekijk zou ik niet zeggen dat alle sterren de kleur groen in zich hebben, maar het is toch echt zo. Tijdens onze vakantie erg opgeschoten, nu nemen veel andere zaken ook tijd in.

Looking at this picture you wouldn't think that all these stars have the color green in them, but they really have. I could do so much during our vacation, but now other things take time too.

Deze zijde geborduurde ansichtkaart werd in 1932 vanuit Parijs verstuurd. In het pochetje zit een zakdoekje.

This silk embroidered postcard was sent from Paris in 1932. There is a little handkerchief in the pocket.

Er zijn weer wat sterren bijgekomen. Ik zal ze af en toe laten zien. Stoffen zijn deels van mezelf en deels gekregen.

I made some new stars. I will show them to you in the coming weeks. Part of the fabrics are from myself, but I could also shop in the stash of friends.

Our national flag has the colors red, white and blue and the pennant is orange. Dutch supporters often wear orange.

Olympische vlam

Daar stonden we op 20 juni s'ochtends vroeg om 8 uur om de Olympische vlam voorbij te zien komen. Het was één van de weinige dagen dat het slecht weer was. De vlam werd gedragen door de voormalig Franse atleet Hubert Valentin.

At eight o'clock in the morning on June 20th. we were there to watch the Olympic flame come by. It was one of these rare days on which we had lots of rain. This is Hubert Valentin, a former French athlete.

Frans punnikklosje

Eigenlijk mag ik van mezelf alleen maar punnikklosjes bij de kringloop kopen, maar toen ik dit oude punnikpopje op een antiekmarktje in Grignan, Frankrijk, tegenkwam, was ik verkocht.

I have restricted myself to only buying spool knitters in a thriftstore, but when I saw this one on an antique market in Grignan, France, I had to buy it.

This silk embroidered old postcard has a French stamp on the front and on the back.

voorbereiden is het halve werk

Over een aantal weken ga ik de vingerhoedjesquilt dubbelen.

Nu ben ik handzame tasjes aan het maken, die makkelijk mee te nemen zijn.

In a few weeks I will double my thimble quilt. Now I am preparing handy bags that are easy to take with you.

Deze kaart werd nooit verstuurd, maar heel wat soldaten tijdens de Eerste Wereldoorlog maakten er gebruik van om contact met de familie te houden.

This postcard was never sent, but a lot of soldiers during WWI used these cards to keep in contact with their relatives.

vingerhoedjestop af

De top is af, maar ik moest hem zelf op de foto zetten, want er was even niemand die me kon helpen. Daardoor is de foto niet wat hij zou moeten zijn.

Bijna 2,5 bij 2,5 meter en meer dan 8000 stukjes. Ik heb de aantallen, maar die schrijf ik achterop als hij ooit gequilt is.

I finished my top and had to make a picture by myself. There was at that moment no-one who could help me.It should be a better picture.

Nearly 99 inches by 99 inches and more than 8000 pieces. I know the exact numbers and will write them on the back once there comes a time when it is quilted.

Een hele mooie enveloppe-kaart met aan de achterkant een boodschap geschreven in 1927.

A beautiful envelope card with on the back a message written in 1927.

Ook de rand, net zoals de rest van de quilt zet ik er met de hand aan. Dat betekent wel dat het allemaal wat langer duurt. De eerste hoek zit er in en de tweede bijna.

Like the rest of the quilt I work on the border by hand. It is taking me some time. The first corner is done and the second almost.

 Deze zijde geborduurde kaart heeft een zakdoekje en kaartje. De kaart werd in 1922 verstuurd door Lucienne Grandpierre. Zij vond het waarschijnlijk erg leuk dit soort kaarten te versturen en te ontvangen, want ik heb meer kaarten waarop zij haar naam staat.

This silk embroidered postcard has a handkerchief and an insert card. It was sent in 1922 by Lucienne Grandpierre. I think she liked getting and sending these sort of cards, because I have more cards with her name on it.

De eerste drie delen van Log Cabin Christmas van Little House Needleworks zijn af.

Nu wachten op het volgende deel.

I finished the first three parts of Log Cabin Christmas by Little House Needleworks.

I have to wait for the next part.

In 1928 stuurde Roger een bericht aan zijn geliefde. Denk niet dat je op de kaart ook echt Roger ziet, want hier werden acteurs voor gebruikt.

In 1928 Roger sent a message to his loved one. You don't see Roger on this picture. Actors were used on these picture cards.

Deze mooie geborduurde kaart werd in 1929 verstuurd. Met dat ik dit schrijf hoor ik de vogels buiten.

This beautiful embroidered postcard was sent in 1929. While writing this I hear the birds outside.

Gestart met het derde deel van Log Cabin Christmas van Little House Needleworks. 

Natuurlijk ben ik ook met de vingerhoedjesquilt bezig, maar het gaat langzaam en er is niet zoveel om te laten zien.

I started with the third pard of Log Cabin Christmas by Little House Needleworks.

I am also busy with the border on my thimble quilt, what it doesn't go that fast and there is not a lot to show.

I have many silk embroidered postcards with wishes for the new year. This is one of them. Look at the beautiful embroidered Swiss cottage.

Ik heb heel wat huisjes geborduurd die ontworpen zijn door Melisa van Pinker n Punkin Quilting & Stitching, maar dit is beslist één van mijn favorieten. 

I stitched a lot of houses designed by Melisa of Pinker n Punkin Quilting & Stitching. This is one of my favorites.

Gisteren nam ik deze foto van ons balkon. Bij ons regende het hard. Laren, een aangrenzende plaats had echt wateroverlast.

Yesterday I took this picture standing on our balcony. We had heavy rain. In Laren, a village nearby, the streets were full of water.

Jammer dat niet alle kaarten die zo'n 100 jaar of ouder zijn de tijd goed hebben doorstaan. Je ziet dat ook met oude schoollapjes.

Deze kaart heeft duidelijke gebruikssporen.

It is a pity that not all postcards that are over a hundred years old are still in mint condition. You see the same with old school samplers.

This card is as you can see in a used condition.

Pinksteren

In mijn verzameling zijde geborduurde ansichtkaarten zit maar één Pinksterkaart. Leuk gedaan met de lelietjes-van-dalen.

bezig met Gingerbread Saltbox

Niet het seizoen, maar ik ben bezig met de Gingerbread Saltbox van Pinker n Punkin Quilting & Stitching. Mooie kleuren en ondanks het warmer wordende weer leuk om aan te werken.

Not the time of the season, but I'm working on the Gingerbread Saltbox by Pinker n Punkin Quilting & Stitching.  The colors are beautiful and although the weather is getting warmer I love to work on it.

Ik was gisteren van plan de randen te snijden voor deze quilt, maar er kwam echt, zoals zo vaak, van alles tussen. Mijn twijfel welke stof hiervoor te gebruiken is in ieder geval weg. Het wordt deze donkerrode uit mijn voorraad. 

Yesterday it was my intention to cut the border for this quilt, but as so often happens, all kinds of things came up. In any case, my doubts about which fabric to use are gone. It will be this dark red one from my stash.
