Nee, deze heb ik niet net gemaakt. Drie ervan maakte ik tijdens ons verblijf in Frankrijk. Uiteraard moest er een huisje met stofjes uit de streek bij. Het staat rechtsonder.
Nu gaat het weer langzamer hoor. De alledaagse dingen slurpen veel tijd op.
No, I didn't make these recently. Three of them I made during our stay in France. I had to make one with local fabrics, the one on the buttom right.
Now it is going slower again. Normal life gives me much less spare time.
Van dit lapje is de maker onbekend. De blauwe letters zijn haast willekeurig uitgekozen en de L en F lijken niet geheel volgens patroon te zijn geborduurd. Had ieder lapje maar een bijgevoegd kaartje met gegevens, maar nu is het gissen.
We don't know who made this sampler. The blue letters seem almost randomly chosen and the L and F don't seem to be an exact copy of the pattern. I do wish every sampler had a card that told us the history. Now we can only guess.
Wat gaf het een inspiratie dat ik de huisjestop op een andere quilt had gespeld. Zo leuk dat het vanaf een afstand haast allemaal blauwe huisjes zijn en dat je steeds meer andere kleuren ziet als je dichterbij komt.
Pinning the top on another quilt and looking at it from a distance gave much inspiration. From afar they look mostly blue, but that changes when you come nearer.
Zo kon ik aan het eind van onze vakantie weer een strook toevoegen.

Ja, ook bij ons Franse huis was het te merken dat het herfst is. De vele eikenbomen zaten vol met eikels, de struik achter in de tuin zat vol met bessen en de zon stond wat lager.
Het was al altijd weer heerlijk, maar veel te kort. (hoe vaak horen jullie me dat zeggen ?)
Also in our French home you can see the signs of autumn. The many oak trees have lots of acorns, the shrub has lots of berries and the sun stands low.
We again had a lovely time there, but much to short. (which I mention many times, I know)
Leuk dat er weer twee huisjes bij zijn. Ik stop er van alles in. Zo zitten er lapjes in die ik cadeau heb gehad, lapjes die ik in een quiltwinkel heb gekocht, maar ook lapjes die ik tegenkwam bij de kringloop. Dat maakt het voor mij een prima mix.
I can add two more houses. I use all sorts of fabrics. Some I got as a present, others I bought in a quiltshop. Some are from a second hand store. That way I get the combination I want.

Als ik een schoollapje vind zijn een paar dingen erg belangrijk. Is de prijs goed, staat er een naam op en misschien nog wel meer en is er een foto van de maakster bij. Die foto van de maakster komt zelden voor. Vaak ben ik blij met een naam, een plaats en een jaartal, waardoor ik vaak een stukje geschiedenis vind.
In dit geval niets van dit alles, maar ik smolt weg toen ik deze prachtige randjes zag.
When I find a school sampler there are some things that are important. Is the price right, does the sampler have a name or does the present owner have a picture of the one who made it. A picture is a rare find. I am already glad with a name, place and year of making.
In this case, nothing of those things, but the bands were so beautiful, I just couldn't resist them.
